I closed a partnership with Daikin and turned it into an open innovation challenge for LATAM
Anchor metric: open innovation challenge with Daikin, closed as a partnership in 2021 and launched in 2022. Tec's 2021 Annual Report, p.416.
Role: National Program Director, Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
INCmty's open innovation challenges work like this: a large organization plants a real problem in the ecosystem, and the best solutions get selected to join the organization or the market. I brought in Daikin, the Japanese air conditioning company, and translated its industrial need into a call for LATAM startups in the HVAC industry and its supply chain. I covered general coordination, executive production, process design, and community and registration management.
Main result: the Daikin partnership closed in 2021 and the challenge launched in 2022, targeting advanced-stage startups and projects across Latin America. Caveat: the record doesn't capture the number of projects sourced or the outcome of the call for applications.
